Marrakech is a transport puzzle — and luggage is half the problem
Most travelers don't think of Marrakech as a transport hub, but it is. The city has four distinct stations spread across very different neighborhoods:
- Marrakech ONCF train station in Gueliz — the rail gateway, with national trains to Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Tangier and the Atlantic coast.
- Supratours coach terminal next door to the train station — the official ONCF coach network, mainly to destinations rail doesn't reach (Essaouira, Agadir, Dakhla).
- CTM bus station on Avenue Hassan II in Gueliz — the main private intercity coach line.
- Bab Doukkala gare routière at the edge of the Medina — the public/private mix of regional and long-distance buses.
If you're transferring between trains and coaches, or arriving on one and leaving on another, you almost certainly need somewhere to drop your bags for a few hours. This guide covers what is actually available at each station, what isn't, and how to plan around it.

Station-by-station: what's available for left luggage
Marrakech ONCF train station (Gueliz)
The ONCF station was rebuilt in 2008 and is one of the most modern in Morocco — clean, well-signed, with cafés and a small commercial gallery. Despite that, dedicated long-stay luggage storage inside the station is unreliable. ONCF has historically offered limited locker capacity, but availability is not advertised online and they are not bookable in advance.
Practical reality:
- A small number of lockers may be present near the platforms.
- Capacity drops sharply during festivals (Marrakech International Film Festival in late November/early December) and school holidays.
- There is no manned consigne with set published hours.
Plan B: drop bags in the surrounding Gueliz blocks (Avenue Mohammed V, Avenue Hassan II) where partner storage networks operate with longer hours.
Supratours terminal (next to the train station)
Supratours runs the official ONCF coach network, with the Marrakech ↔ Essaouira route being its most-used connection (around 3 hours, 80–100 MAD). The terminal is physically attached to the ONCF train station — same footprint, separate ticket counter on the side of the building.
For luggage:
- Coach passengers can stow large bags in the underbelly of the bus at boarding (no extra fee for normal allowances).
- There is no walk-in left-luggage service at the Supratours counter.
- For pre-departure storage, treat Supratours and the train station as the same location and use the Gueliz neighborhood for storage.
CTM bus station (Avenue Hassan II, Gueliz)
CTM (Compagnie de Transports au Maroc) is the largest private coach operator. The Marrakech terminal sits on Avenue Hassan II, about a 12-minute walk from the train station. Routes serve every major city in Morocco — Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Tangier, Agadir, Dakhla.
For luggage:
- Bags traveling on a CTM coach are checked in at the counter and you receive a paper baggage tag (similar to a flight). There is sometimes a small surcharge per bag (around 5–10 MAD per piece).
- That tag is for transit only — it is not a left-luggage solution before or after travel.
- The CTM terminal does not run a public consigne.
Bab Doukkala gare routière (edge of the Medina)
This is the older, busier and more chaotic bus station — used by smaller operators, regional lines and grands taxis collectifs to villages around the Atlas. It sits just outside the Medina ramparts near Bab Doukkala gate.
For luggage:
- No formal consigne service.
- Some unofficial baggage handlers may offer to "watch" your bag — avoid this, there is no receipt or insurance.
- The neighborhood around Bab Doukkala has cafés, riads and small shops; partner storage networks have started to fill the gap with bookable points within a few minutes' walk.

How to choose the right area to store your bags
If you're using the ONCF train station or Supratours
Stay in Gueliz. The neighborhood within a 5-minute walk of the station has:
- Cafés and restaurants on Avenue Mohammed V.
- Several modern hotels.
- Partner storage networks bookable online with photo evidence at drop-off.
- Easy taxi access to the Medina (10–15 min) and Menara airport (15–20 min).
If you're using CTM
Drop bags either next to the CTM station on Avenue Hassan II, or up the road in central Gueliz — both keep you within walking distance for pickup before your coach. CTM coaches are typically punctual; aim to arrive 45 minutes before departure.
If you're using Bab Doukkala
Look for storage points on the Medina side, ideally between Bab Doukkala and the Mouassine quarter. This keeps you near both the bus station and the souks for the time you spend in the city. Avoid the temptation to "leave it with a café" — there is no recourse if something goes wrong.
The Supratours ↔ ONCF connection (and why it matters)
Supratours and ONCF run as a single ticketed network, which means:
- A combined ONCF + Supratours ticket can take you from, say, Casablanca to Essaouira via Marrakech with luggage staying with you the whole way.
- The connection at Marrakech is door-to-door: ONCF train arrives, you walk 50 metres to the Supratours terminal, board the coach.
- If you have a multi-hour gap between train and coach, you'll need bag storage in Gueliz — there is no sealed-bag service that follows you across.
This is the most common reason travelers search for "luggage storage Marrakech Supratours" — they have a long layover at the station and want to actually see Marrakech without their suitcase.
Typical prices around the stations (2026)
| Service | Price (MAD/bag/day) |
|---|
| ONCF lockers (when available) | 20–40 |
| Gueliz partner storage networks | 30–45 |
| Hotel storage for non-guests | 50–100 |
| Medina-side partner storage (Bab Doukkala) | 30–45 |
Booking online generally saves cash and gives you a guaranteed slot — important during peak season and festivals.
